Ealing Chamber Music Club
- Are you a chamber music player, or would you like to play chamber music if you could contact other like-minded people?
- The club has been formed to facilitate playing and performing chamber music in the Ealing and West London area.
Players of all standards are welcome.
The only prerequisites for membership are a desire to play chamber music and
a willingness to have your name included in the membership list.
The list is available to all members so they can contact each other for fixing chamber music groups.
How it works
-
The main focus is, of course, on playing chamber music together -
either at home or at club concerts and other club activities.
We hold monthly meetings (on the second Monday of the month except during January and August) in the beautiful surroundings of St Mary's Perivale.
These take the form of a concert with three or four member's items, followed by refreshments,
giving time to chat and meet each other.
The Club is for players of all abilities, but most of the concert performers are of good amateur standard. The Club aims to enable people of comparable standard to meet and play together. There is no obligation to perform in the monthly concert.
We also organise playing afternoons where members have the opportunity to play a variety of chamber works with different combinations of players and instruments. Due to the organisation involved, these are pre -booked sessions.
In addition we organise a number of "turn up and play" sessions where any member can come along and find a part to play.
As well as the standard chamber music repertoire from the baroque, classical and romantic periods, the Club has an early music consort and groups interested in contemporary repertoire.
New Members
-
New members of all standards are welcome, but you will get more out of the club if you are above grade 6 and have reasonalby good sight reading abilities. Please contact either the Secretary or
the Membership Secretary before coming along to a meeting so we can expect you.
-
- Committee members can help with forming groups of comparabale standard and suggesting suitable repertoire for new members. See also choosing music.
